Bonds Or TO?

I have come up with a very interesting question for the great Armchair GM commuinity. Who is the worse person, Barry Bonds or Terrell Owens? And who would you rather have on your team. I Find it interesting that Owens never gets talked about in the steroid conversation, because it seems no one cares about steroids in football. When guys from the Panthers get suspended for steroids no one gives it any thought. That would be all over the news if it were in baseball. Its obviously because people care about the records in baseball. Anyways let's take a quick look at who would be a worse guy to have on the team.

After doing an interview with Owens, I found that he gives a great interview and isn't actually such a horrbile person. I saw a great comment earlier that Eagles fans would have booed him no matter what. Eagles fans booed when the Eagles took Donovan McNabb over Ricky Williams in the draft. Nice call there Eagle fans. In general Eagle fans are just mad because they never win anything, so they decide to boo. So don't blame Owens for being unpopular with the fans in Philly. And yes I do realize that being a supporter of TO is going to get me a lot of negative comments but who cares. Even DeMarcus Ware says that TO is a great guy in the locker room. Straight from a players mouth! As long as you don't piss him off your ok.

As for Bonds, he is a different story. Bonds is a guy who has lied to a grand jury about his steroid use, whether it has been proven or not. Now since, I was so nice to TO I will not be to harsh on Bonds. Point is both guys are going to end up ruining your locker room. So then it comes down to who will produce on the field. TO is still producing as one of the best recievers in football. However Bonds has become a very average hitter It looks as if he will hit around 20 home runs this season with an average well below .300.

The reason I ask this question about TO or Bonds is because it will be relevant fairly soon. Bonds is a free agent at the end of this season, and TO will likely be looking for a new team sometime in the near future. I think it would be just plain silly to think that Bonds will get anywhere near the amount of money he is making now. And who would want him on their team for any amount of money? TO is in a much better situation because he still produces at a reasonable price salary wise. But Bonds is way overpaid, plays only half of the time, and doesn't produce like a 20 million dollar man. So my question to readers is where will TO be in a year, and where will Bonds be in a year. And how much will Bonds next contract be worth?

Who is the worse person? 1)Who are we to judge and 2)Why is that relevant at all? Completely different subjects, completely different sports.

What team? They play different sports! A celebrity cricket squad? A charity golf foursome? I'm sorry, I just don't understand.

I wouldn't want either one my favorite team, if that's what you're asking. I don't think San Fran should sign Bonds and I don't think Bonds will want to resign. I think he'll go to an AL team where he can DH or retire and move out of the country.

Bonds may not be a nice guy and has not always been a friend in the clubhouse, but he's not as god awful of a teammate as TO. I would never want a guy who is legitimately the worst teammate in sports on my team. Plus, it's stupid to compare them production-wise. Bonds is 40+ years old. TO is old, but not that old. I'd MUCh rather have Bonds at 33 than TO at 33, both as a person and a performer. TO is a liar and a flat out bad person, just like Bonds. Within 2 years neither he or Bonds will be out of their respective games. Bonds' body has borken down and 35 year old injury prone recievers aren't worth anything.

I finally saw someone mention age, and I was happy, because that is one huge part of the article I disagree with. But I think you are missing one key point. 33 in football is ancient. 33 in baseball is maybe a little past prime. Also I disagree with you. I'd rather have TO in his prime than Bonds in his.

First of all, DeMarcus Ware doesn't win the Peter Gammons credibility award. Secondly, this is an apples vs. oranges comparison. They are both idiots, and they are both among the best that's ever played their sport. I'm a Chicago boy, so would I like to have T.O. on the Bears? Yes, but only because I believe Lovie Smith would kick his ass out of town should something happen. Would I want Bonds on the White Sox? No. He's 57 years old and can't play anywhere but DH effectively anymore.

Okay, I don't know what the Peter Gammons credibility test is, but I will say this about Demarcus Ware - yes, there are guys who will say Owens was a good teammate. There are ones that will say he's a bad teammate. You quote Ware, but don't have anything to say about Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia, or perhaps a coach like Andy Reid. Find me someone who likes him, and I'll find you one who doesn't. The arguments cancel out.

"As long as you don't piss him off your ok."

And what does it take to piss him off? Not giving him the ball enough, getting hurt, losing games (which is NEVER his fault, incidentally), not saying enough good stuff about him, saying something bad about him after he says something bad about you...need I go on? I think you get the point. You can't spend your life trying not to offend someone who is always looking for a reason to be offended, AND going out and offending you. Owens is a jerk and a hypocrite, and I can't believe you keep justifying him.

not admiring T.O., not fawning over him incessantly and not saying "next question" for him will piss him off. Kobe's Mom didn't hug him enough as a kid...

He is ONE OF the best receivers in the NFL, not by far the best. He's right there among the best, but I wouldn't say he's far and away better than Marvin Harrison or Randy Moss.

A friend of my roomate had a 15 minute conversation with TO about bubble bath when she was working at a hotel a couple of weeks ago in Chicago. She said he was extremely nice. I found that hard to believe at first, but I guess maybe he's not so bad if you give him a chance.

He may very well be a nice guy. But that does not diminish the fact that he tears teams apart on the field of play.

I'd rather have Bonds. Look what TO did to the Eagles last year...that was just sad what happened to that team. Bonds, like TO, has always produced (with the exception of this year, save for walks), but unlike TO, he has not completely ruined the lockerroom. He's not the coolest guy, but he's not gonna provoke others or start any shit. Besides, during Bonds's prime, he was considered one of the greatest to EVER play the game. To my knowledge, TO has not been compared to Jerry Rice yet.

How come just because of a few stupid comments TO is cast as a bad person? The only thing he has a a bad mouth. Bonds, meanwhile is a fraud and a cheater. He is a terrible, lying person and deserves to go to jail. What did TO ever do to get mentioned in the same sentence as Bonds?

Steroids were not illegal in baseball, even though Bonds may have been taking them, that only makes him a drug user, something the sports world has plenty of, not a cheater. Neither guy is all that bad of guys. They might not be model citizens or great teammates, but few people are. Both these guys support their families and aren't out bringing down society as a whole. Football is just football, baseball is just baseball. If the guy across the hall from me gets a new program on his computer allowing him to do twice as much work as me, that doesn't make him a terrible person and a cheater, if the company gets more done, then great, but in the whole scheme of things, it really doesn't matter.

A few stupid comments? Wow, is that an understatement. Reggie Bush has made a few stupid comments. Jerry Rice made a few stupid comments. There's a world of difference between a few stupid comments, and what Terrell Owens did. Owens didn't "just" make a few stupid comments. He tears teams apart, divides players against players and players against coaches...what he's done goes way beyond just making a few stupid comments.

Well you actually need to be clear-ER. TO or Bonds on your team even if it is their respective sport. Are we talking now or when both players were in their prime (TO still has some years left and could be currently coming into his prime)

if it is both players in their prime i would say Bonds because of the season that he has put together 96-98' hr totals of 42,40,37 and then a string of 5 years 2000-04 hr totals 49,73,46,45,45 and he was the most feared hitter in the league. Not taking anything away from TO he had a nice string of seasons also. 2000-04 yds and td's 1,451-13 ,1,412-16 ,1,300-13 ,1,100-9 ,1,200-14. now looking at those stats i might take TO shorter season more condusive #'s.

i guess that is what makes a great debate.
