This should be a monumental year in baseball. We have seen a monumental accomplishment. Who would have thought that the Babe would be beaten by a modern day player? But that is what has happened. Barry Bonds has eclipsed Babe Ruth to become the second all-time home run king. But I can tell you this, most fans outside of San Francisco couldn't care less.
The reason, Barry Bonds is a cheater!! Plain and simple. If you have any doubts as to whether he is a cheater, look at the numbers. Nobody starts to pick up their numbers at the age of 37 without the aid of something. Look at him when he was a rookie, he was a stick. The amount of muscle mass he has put on in a short time is crazy. He has cheated by taking steroids, and he has tainted the game for it.
It's not only the fact that he has done it, it is the fact that he is arrogant about everything regarding this. He gets indignant when, God forbid, someone in the media asks him a question. If he were a well-liked player to begin with, it would be one thing, but he is not liked by anyone in the game. Not the fans, not the media, no one. And, back to the arrogance. Does anyone really believe that he didn't know what he was taking?? Come on, who are we kidding? He knew what he was doing, and his stats are tainted. If it were up to me, there would be an asterisk next to any and all if his records.
You know what I think would be great for the game? If Albert Pujols breaks Bonds' single season record, and Bonds never breaks Aaron's record. That would be poetic justice.

On a serious note I think Pujols will get the records for HR and RBI's by 2010. It could happen sooner but I think it will be about then when he has both under his belt. Even this year I don't know if he would have made it. I am a huge Cards and Pujols fan but it is usual for a player to get into his mid season slump (or worse a oblique injury).
It was to his right side and PUjols being a right handed batter, this injury shouldn't have future impact on his swing...at least nothing close to if it was a left oblique injury.
Bonds and HRs now is just dull news...it's like Bill Gates getting a paycheck every week...It's gonna happen, who cares, he's got alot but there will be sombody better. Here's to Pujols "*"
