Bonds And A-Rod:Pushing For The Homer?

I think it is very interesting to look at the stats Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez have put up since reaching 754 and 499 respectively.
First up, let's look at Alex Rodriguez. Since hitting number 499 against the Royals on July 25th, here is his hits compared to at bats: 2-20. That is an average of .100. That is not too impressive. The sad part is that before today's White Sox game he was 0-18, but he went 2-5 today which is a sign of hope. Maybe he has stopped pushing, and has just started playing again, maybe not. Either way, maybe he needs to just try to hit the ball and eventually one will leave the park.
You also need to look at the stats of Bonds since 754. In the 4 games since the homer he is 1-12. That also isn't too respectable. Bonds finishes the Dodgers series tonight, and hopefully he can at least get a hit if not another home run. Remember, who knows how long this could last because A-Rod only needs one more, Barry needs two.
So there are the facts about this. In my opinion, they shouldn't be pushing, but how could they not? They are both so close to big milestones, how can you not come up to the plate thinking about it. I think it would be great if they could find a way to avoid thinking about it, but I don't see how that is possible.
