Bomar out at OU

ESPN is reporting that returning starting QB, Rhett Bomar, has been dismissed from the OU football team for violating NCAA rules by taking "payment over an extended period of time in excess of time actually worked."

Bomar was one of two players dismissed, though the name of the second player hasn't been released yet.

Thats a big blow to the Sooners, Bomar made great strides at the end of last season and was expected to be a big part in the Sooners offense this season.

He didn't just make great strides, he was expected to be the best QB in the conference this year. With the departures of Vince Young, Reggie McNeil and Brad Smith, the Big 12 didn't have a lot of talent in the way of QBs. The only other QBs with serious prospects were Chase Daniel of Missouri and McGee of Texas A&M. OU was the favorite to win conference this year, but I think this puts the title back up for grabs.

Might have to tweak my preseason poll a little bit. Oklahoma doesn't look to be as powerful now that they're that much more one-dimensional on offense.
