Bofo Would Be The Perfect ¨Anti-Beckham¨

For many, football is mainly the soap opera for men. This is why it needs to be sold that way here in the States. Bautista would bring that to the league.
Hey we can´t deny it, we are intrigued by the ¨he said, they said¨ gossip of the transfer market and what goes on off the pitch than what goes on off. We develop a following towards our idols for what they do with and without the ball; we also develop a true disliking for others.
Adolfo Bautista happens to be one of those players. His time during Chivas saw him collide with everyone from Cuautéhmoc Blanco and the América faithful to Ricardo Lavolpe and his superstititious antics to Jorge Benítez and the ¨loogie seen ´round the world¨. He is the type of player that is liked only by teammates and fans.
His skill and pace are undeniable, but they tend to be overshadowed by his on-field persona, his bleached blonde hair, his different colored boots, and the number 100 on his back. Still, these are all ingredients to bring in some more fans to Chivas USA matches.
It would also be the shot in the arm that the team needs as two legends of the game South of the Border will be gone after this season. Ramón María Morales already retired and Claudio Suárez is on his way; and these two individuals are hard to replace. But if there is one person out there that could be able to do it ¨Bofo¨ is it.
He would also give the LA derby that ¨Rodeo Drive vs. East LA¨ spice, no pun intended. It would be a powerful mix at the Home Depot which could make one of the marquee matchups in all of the MLS even more. David Beckham would be advertised as the gallant hero on the White Horse (oh didn´t Disney do that already?) followed by his insecure sidekick Landy, who never leaves his side as he is afraid to lose relevance his place in his world. Bofo would be the bad guy, a role he relishes regardless, and would bring to the table everything that the savior does.
This would be perfect for Becks. A star needs some type of adverse condition, someone that will challenge him for his throne. Someone that will get in his face instead of letting him just go about from match to match and collect his paycheck unopposed. Bofo will make Becks work for that multimillion dollar contract, and at the same time play with a chip on his shoulder- that is a dangerous combination.
Jorge Vergara already mentioned that his satellite team would have first dibs at the player, as he is no longer in the plans of the Mexican giants. This is a marketing scam; I mean, opportunity that landed on Don Garber´s lap to further give his league an identity and a personality. This could be the matchup that could do the one thing that this has failed to generate until the last few months- excitement.
