Bobby Hammond (Robert Lee Hammond) was born on February 20, 1952 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. After going to high school at Bayside (Queens, NY), Hammond attended Morgan State University. Hammond made his professional debut in the NFL in 1976 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants and Washington Redskins over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that 1977 was Bobby Hammond's best year, as he ran for 577 yards, ran back a punt for a touchdown and had 419 kick return yards.
