Bobby Avila (Roberto Francisco (Gonzalez) Avila) was born on April 2, 1924 in Veracruz, Veracruz (Mexico). He made his Major League debut on April 30, 1949 for the Cleveland Indians. In 1950, his rookie year, he hit .299 with 1 home run and 21 RBI. Avila played for the Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Braves, Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Bobby Avila's best season was 1954, when he slugged 15 home runs, hit for a .341 average and knocked in 67 runs.
