Bob Wells (Robert Leroy Wells) was born on August 4, 1945 in New York, New York. After going to high school at Lucy C. Laney (Atlanta, GA), Wells attended Johnson C. Smith University. Wells made his professional debut in the AFL in 1968 with the San Diego Chargers. He played in the AFL for 2 years, playing for the San Diego Chargers the entire time. Wells also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the San Diego Chargers the entire time.
