Born on December 14, 1905 in Chicago, Illinois, Bob Weiland (Robert George Weiland) played for the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Browns and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 12 year career. Weiland broke into the bigs on September 30, 1928 with the Chicago White Sox, and put up a 5.81 ERA in 62 innings pitched in 1929, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bob Weiland's best season was 1938, when he posted a 3.59 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 117 batters.
