Bob Swift (Robert Virgil Swift) was born on March 6, 1915 in Salina, Kansas. He made his Major League debut on April 16, 1940 for the St. Louis Browns. In 1940, his rookie year, he hit .244 with 0 home runs and 39 RBI. Swift played for the St. Louis Browns, Philadelphia Athletics and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 14 year career.
