Born on March 29, 1894 in Cassburn, Ontario (Canada), Bob Steele (Robert Wesley Steele) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Giants over the course of his 4 year career. Steele broke into the bigs on April 17, 1916 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.41 ERA in 148 innings pitched in 1916, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bob Steele's best season was 1917, when he posted a 2.84 ERA and struck out 105 batters.
