Born on January 1, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan, Bob Owchinko (Robert Dennis Owchinko) played for the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and Montreal Expos over the course of his 10 year career. Owchinko broke into the bigs on September 25, 1976 with the San Diego Padres, and put up a 4.45 ERA in 170 innings pitched in 1977, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bob Owchinko's best season was 1978, when he posted a 3.56 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 94 batters.
