Bob Knight Sends a Message…The Question is What Kind?

Remember when Jarrius Jackson was dismissed from the Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team? Doesn’t it seem like only yesterday Bob Knight was trying to send a message to who led the Big 12 Conference in scoring last season with 20.5 points per game? Okay, so it was more like last week, but hey, gimme a break! Nonetheless, he has made a triumphant return to the hardwood as he worked with the team Sunday. I hope nobody blinked, otherwise you would’ve missed this lengthy suspension…It lasted about as long as a 20-second timout while having the same effect! Nobody sits during those either!

What kind of a message is this…A suspension that doesn’t exceed the 96-hour mark? Is Bob Knight going soft on us? I highly doubt that, but one thing we know is that “The General” doesn’t like to be made a fool of by anyone. Sorry to say this Bob, you’ve done it to yourself this time. Here’s a man when just the mention of his name, adjectives such as hard ass & disciplinary, come to mind before thinking of his coaching accomplishments. For that, he may very well be remembered for as much as his wins as his side antics that went along with those victories. A man who is all about teaching life lessons first and foremost before the X’s and O’s of the game of basketball goes and does something like this. Why does this remind me of the days back in high school when a sweetie wanted to break-up, but then a week later comes crawling back…Why do I get this same feeling about this. Probably because as silly as that was in high school, this is down right preposterous!

There must be one hell of a learning curve going on at Texas Tech…Not everybody can boost their grades in just a week’s time, in college no less. What, did Jackson’s professors fill out his progress report wrong…Or maybe they didn’t realize he was a basketball player and they get extra benefits? Now at any other school I would expect that, but Texas Tech, Hell No! Oh let me guess…It was all a big misunderstanding, right? Kind of like when you misunderstood the interpretation of the “zero-tolerance” set forth by Myles Brand at Indiana, right? Same applies here in this case. Although I’m sure there’s a perfectly good legitimate excuse as to why you reinstated Jackson to the team…Shit, there might be 20.5 of them.

We would all expect this kind of “suspension”, (if you can even call it that?) handed down from Isiah Thomas in New York, but certainly not from an individual who’s all about teaching life lessons…You’ve just taught another very valuable one there, Bob. It’s called, “How to look like an ass!” Okay, so you’re good at doing this already for different reasons…However, I’m a fan of Bob Knight the coach. The side antics I can do without…Don’t think there’s much need for them. Although, I must say they are down right humorous…You know, along the same lines of this Jarrius Jackson suspension due to academic reasons! I’ve seen better messages sent from a mother of a two-year old son! Might I suggest using a full timeout next time you try and send a message Bob.

LastRowSports.com “Pick’em Poll” wants your vote to determine “Sideline Reporting at its Finest?”. If you don’t vote we’ll, assume two things…You either have the mentality of the 83-year old Andy Rooney or the possible that you might be gay. If George “Winer” Bush can get your vote, surely these lovely sideline reporters can as well! Get out and rock the vote, don’t do it for me, do it for Stacy, Erin and/or Bonnie! Don’t they deserve some loving after all the sideline information the bring to us?

Something tells me Texas Tech boosters and alumni had something to do with this...they have a lot more power over big-time college athletics than they should (and more than any of us would like to admit).

Every school has boosters; just a matter of how rich/influencial they are.

If your suspended, you can't practice....Plus it was undetermined yet if he was going to play against Sam Houston State
