Bob Hoel (Robert Malcolm Hoel) was born on June 5, 1913 in Alden, Minnesota. After going to high school at Evanston (IL), Hoel attended the University of Pittsburgh. Hoel made his professional debut in the NFL in 1935 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Chicago Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 3 year career.
