Born on October 11, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, Bob Chipman (Robert Howard Chipman) played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and Boston Braves over the course of his 12 year career. Chipman broke into the bigs on September 28, 1941 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and put up a 3.65 ERA in 165.1 innings pitched in 1944, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bob Chipman's best season was 1944, when he posted a 3.65 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 61 batters.
