Born on August 10, 1927 in Asheville, North Carolina, Bob Chakales (Robert Edward Chakales) played for the Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 7 year career. Chakales broke into the bigs on April 21, 1951 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 4.74 ERA in 68.1 innings pitched in 1951, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bob Chakales's best season was 1954, when he posted a 3.43 ERA.
