Born on February 20, 1889 in Woodbury, New Jersey, Boardwalk Brown (Carroll William Brown) played for the Philadelphia Athletics and New York Yankees over the course of his 5 year career. Brown broke into the bigs on September 27, 1911 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 3.66 ERA in 199 innings pitched in 1912, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Boardwalk Brown's best season was 1913, when he posted a 2.94 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 70 batters.
