Blown Coverage of 10,000

I have been watching ESPN for well over a decade now, and I now believe that they have completely blown professional sports out of proportion. They turn everything into an entertainment show, not sports show. They only care about the highlight reel players such as Lebron James or Kobe Bryant or just the slam dunks and the Home Runs. There are only two shows on ESPN's network that deserve any recognition, thats Sunday NFL Countdown and ESPNews. Both of them shows break down every little thing and not just the highlight reels.

Furthermore, as everyone knows by now the Philadelphia Phillies just lost their 10,000 MLB game, WHO CARES! Big deal, they have been a professional sports franchise since 1883, what do you expect? Most of these losses came between 1920 and 1960, thats really it. At one point they had 13 straight losing season between the 1930's and 40's. But like everything else, ESPN has to blow it up and make it look like a natural disaster. After the game was over, it was breaking news on the bottom of the ESPNews screen, and then they start interviewing radio and TV personalities in the Philadelphia areas just rubbing it all in. If this was the LA Lakers or the New York Yankees, you wouldn't hear anytning, it would be "oh, ok, big deal."

But for some reason everybody hates Philadelphia and their fans, so lets just rip inot them more and make them feel like losers once again. Philadelphia fans are the most passionate and demanding fans in the world, forget that the New York band-wagon jumpers, or those fans out in Chicago or Boston, the Phillies fans always stick together and stay knowledgable about the negatives and positives. ESPN took something that they knew was going to eventually happen, and made it into a damn circus joke. Screw You ESPN, let;s focus on a possible rascist Yankees coach or Giambi possibly helping baseball rather than shot jokes at an entire city!

This isn't as bad as the super bowl loss 2 years ago...I'm still avoiding ESPN like the plague though...no desire to watch

The thing is...with this...its just another loss...this team has been terrible, basically my entire life, except 1993...and even then it was just a "Happy to be there" moment...there's been periods where, unlike the eagles, they weren't even fun to watch...at all

It's a landmark that no other sports franchise has come close to accomplishing. Now, as a Tampa Bay Bucs fan, I've had years and years of 10-loss seasons, blown #1 draft picks, crappy trades, boneheaded coaching decisions and of course, cream-sickle jerseys.

When the Bucs lost their first 26 games, the "Network" wasn't even around. Think about how much Boomer would have discussed this ad nauseum.

I think it's unique, and unfortunately, don't feel it was blown out of proportion, but right now, all we have is baseball, golf, some FIFA soccer tournament with kids that aren't even old enough to drink, and the WNBA -- which stands for "Where No Body Attends"

Better some real news like a landmark (no matter how boneheaded it might be) than ESPY coverage from something that went on a few days before.

Oh, 2002 was the best sports year of my life. But I think the Bucs did finally return a kickoff for a TD a few years back. Karl Williams returned a punt for a TD.

Then there was the 10-5 victory over Buffalo the year the Bills made their first or second Super Bowl and Vinny Testaverde "ran" for 100 yards.

Very few highlights from a Bucs point of view, with the one Super Bowl. And at one point during that game, I thought the Bucs, if any franchise could blow a 28-point lead, would be the team to do it.

The Phils aren't exactly lovable losers, since I live close enough to Philly to hear the wrath and pain of Eagles and Phils fans. I like seeing their fans bitch and complain at the bar.

10,000 losses should be nothing special, when you consider that the 76ers lost 10,000 last NBA season.

I don't think so...they've existed (from Syracuse) since 1939...that's 68 seasons...even if they lost 82 games (season wasn't that long in the early days) each time (and they didn't) that's still only 5,576 losses... The sixers/nationals actually have a 2461-2121 record all-time...dubious? Not even close...
