Born on January 21, 1914 in Olivia, Minnesota, Blix Donnelly (Sylvester Urban Donnelly) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Braves over the course of his 8 year career. Donnelly broke into the bigs on May 6, 1944 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.12 ERA in 76.1 innings pitched in 1944, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Blix Donnelly's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1945, when he posted a 3.52 ERA and struck out 76 batters. However, others believe that it was 1944, when he posted a 2.12 ERA.
