Blenda Gay (Blenda Glen Gay) was born on November 22, 1950 in Greenville, North Carolina. After going to high school at H.B. Sugg (Farmville, NC), Gay attended Fayetteville State University. Gay made his professional debut in the NFL in 1974 with the San Diego Chargers. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers over the course of his 3 year career.

Most people believe that 1974 was Blenda Gay's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
