Chicks dig the long ball, and so does the Bleacher Report.
That’s why they're breaking out their inaugural Home Run Derby Challenge for the 2007 MLB season.
It’s a summer-long contest open free to all comers—and no, unfortunately, paid employees of Internet HGH distributors aren't eligible to compete.
Apart from bragging rights on the Open Source Sports Network, there's a Nintendo Wii waiting for the winner...so if you think you know baseball, sign up now to put your moxie where your mouth is.
Enter the Home Run Derby Challenge
The rules are simple: They’ve broken last year’s power producers into five groups of thirteen. Your job is to pick the three players in each group (15 total) who you think will be doing the most yard work this season. Sorry, no write-in candidates will be accepted—so keep your hot minor league prospects to yourself.
To submit your entry, go to the team selection page and choose your sluggers.
They’ll update the standings weekly, and provide a forum for you to gripe about Ken Griffey’s season-ending injury whenever it arises.
The winner will be the team with the most bleacher-reachers at the end of the 2007 season. The tie-breaker, if necessary, will be highest HR/AB ratio.
And to make it worth your while, there are some fabulous prizes lined up for the winners:
First place winner will get a brand spanking new Nintendo Wii game console, with a bundle of EA Sports games.
First runner up wins a bundle of EA Sports games for the console of their choice. And second runner up lucks out with an industrial size case of Cracker Jacks, America’s favorite baseball snack.
Don’t want to wait until September to get a prize? Assemble the team with the most home runs at the MLB All Star break and win the All Star Break Leader Prize, a bundle of EA Sports games for the console of your choice.
The submission deadline is set for first pitch Sunday, so assemble your team now.
In the spirit of friendly competition, the Bleacher Report crew offers this little bit of free advice:
If you're thinking Ryan Howard's in for another big season, you ain't the only one. Now Barry Bonds, on the other hand...
Well, you can figure him out for yourself. Hey, free advice—you get what you pay for.
