Birdie Tebbetts (George Robert Tebbetts) was born on November 10, 1912 in Burlington, Vermont. He made his Major League debut on September 16, 1936 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1937, his rookie year, he hit .191 with 2 home runs and 16 RBI. Tebbetts played for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 14 year career.

Most people believe that Birdie Tebbetts's best season was 1948, when he hit for a .280 average and knocked in 68 runs.
