Bird Carroll (Elmer Ellsworth Carroll) was born on July 25, 1896 in Scottsdale, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Scottsdale (PA), Carroll attended Washington & Jefferson College. Carroll made his professional debut in the APFA in 1921 with the Canton Bulldogs. He played in the APFA for 1 year, playing for the Canton Bulldogs the entire time. Carroll also played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the Canton Bulldogs the entire time.
