Born on March 14, 1869 in Ridgway, Pennsylvania, Billy Rhines (William Pearl Rhines) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Louisville Colonels and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 9 year career. Rhines broke into the bigs on April 22, 1890 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 1.95 ERA in 401.1 innings pitched in 1890, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Billy Rhines's best season was 1890, when he posted a 1.95 ERA, won 28 games and struck out 182 batters.
