Billy Cox (William Richard Cox) was born on August 29, 1919 in Newport, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on September 20, 1941 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1946, his rookie year, he hit .290 with 2 home runs and 36 RBI. Cox played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Billy Cox's best season was 1947, when he slugged 15 home runs and knocked in 54 runs.
