Billy Baird (William Arthur Baird) was born on March 1, 1939 in Lindsay, California. After going to high school at Lindsay (CA), Baird attended San Francisco State University. Baird made his professional debut in the AFL in 1963 with the New York Jets. He played for the New York Jets for his entire 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1964 was Billy Baird's best year, as he picked off 8 passes and ran back an interception for a touchdown.
