Billy Alvord (William Crawford Alvord) was born on August 10, 1863 in St. Louis, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on April 30, 1885 for the St. Louis Maroons. In 1889, his rookie year, he hit .231 with 0 home runs and 18 RBI. Alvord played for the St. Louis Maroons, Kansas City Cowboys, No Team Name Found, Washington Senators and Cleveland Spiders over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Billy Alvord's best season was 1890, when he knocked in 52 runs.
