Born on May 6, 1865 in Cleveland, Ohio, Bill Stemmeyer (William Stemmeyer) played for the Boston Beaneaters and Cleveland Spiders over the course of his 4 year career. Stemmeyer broke into the bigs on October 3, 1885 with the Boston Beaneaters, and put up a 3.02 ERA in 348.2 innings pitched in 1886, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Stemmeyer's best season was 1886, when he posted a 3.02 ERA, won 22 games and struck out 239 batters.
