Born on October 5, 1885 in Milford, Pennsylvania, Bill Steele (William Mitchell Steele) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Brooklyn Superbas over the course of his 5 year career. Steele broke into the bigs on September 10, 1910 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.27 ERA in 71.2 innings pitched in 1910, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Steele's best season was 1911, when he posted a 3.73 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 115 batters.
