Born on November 29, 1864 in Louisville, Kentucky, Bill Sowders (William Jefferson Sowders) played for the Boston Beaneaters and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 3 year career. Sowders broke into the bigs on April 24, 1888 with the Boston Beaneaters, and put up a 2.07 ERA in 317 innings pitched in 1888, his rookie year.
