Born on January 20, 1958 in Tonawanda, New York, Bill Scherrer (William Joseph Scherrer) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 7 year career. Scherrer broke into the bigs on September 7, 1982 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 2.74 ERA in 92 innings pitched in 1983, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Scherrer's best season was 1983, when he posted a 2.74 ERA, notched 10 saves and struck out 57 batters.
