Born on July 27, 1917 in Portland, Oregon, Bill Sayles (William Nisbeth Sayles) played for the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 2 year career. Sayles broke into the bigs on July 17, 1939 with the Boston Red Sox, and put up a 5.29 ERA in 64.2 innings pitched in 1943, his rookie year.
