Bill Salkeld

Bill Salkeld (William Franklin Salkeld) was born on March 8, 1917 in Pocatello, Idaho. He made his Major League debut on April 18, 1945 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1945, his rookie year, he hit .311 with 15 home runs and 52 RBI. Salkeld played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Braves and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 6 year career.
Most people believe that Bill Salkeld's best season was 1945, when he slugged 15 home runs, hit for a .311 average and knocked in 52 runs.
