Born on October 15, 1927 in Alice, Texas, Bill Henry (William Rodman Henry) played for the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros over the course of his 16 year career. Henry broke into the bigs on April 17, 1952 with the Boston Red Sox, and put up a 3.87 ERA in 76.2 innings pitched in 1952, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Bill Henry's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1959, when he posted a 2.68 ERA, notched 12 saves and struck out 115 batters. However, others believe that it was 1964, when he posted a .87 ERA.
