Born on May 2, 1896 in El Monte, California, Bill Piercy (William Benton Piercy) played for the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 6 year career. Piercy broke into the bigs on October 3, 1917 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 2.98 ERA in 81.2 innings pitched in 1921, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Piercy's best season was 1923, when he posted a 3.41 ERA and struck out 51 batters.
