Bill Oliver (William Seth Oliver) was born on February 16, 1902 in Panola, Alabama. After going to high school at Marion Military Institute (Marion, AL), Oliver attended the University of Alabama. Oliver made his professional debut in the AFLG in 1926 with the New York Yankees. He played in the AFLG for 1 year, playing for the New York Yankees the entire time. Oliver also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the New York Yankees the entire time.
