Bill Melton (William Edwin Melton) was born on July 7, 1945 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He made his Major League debut on May 4, 1968 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1969, his rookie year, he hit .255 with 23 home runs and 87 RBI. Melton played for the Chicago White Sox, California Angels and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Bill Melton's best season was 1971, when he slugged 33 home runs and knocked in 86 runs.
