Bill Howerton (William Ray Howerton) was born on December 12, 1921 in Lompoc, California. He made his Major League debut on September 11, 1949 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1950, his rookie year, he hit .281 with 10 home runs and 59 RBI. Howerton played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Giants over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that Bill Howerton's best season was 1950, when he hit for a .281 average and knocked in 59 runs.
