Born on August 2, 1874 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bill Hill (William Cicero Hill) played for the Louisville Colonels, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Spiders, Brooklyn Superbas and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 4 year career. Hill broke into the bigs on April 18, 1896 with the Louisville Colonels, and put up a 4.31 ERA in 319.2 innings pitched in 1896, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Hill's best season was 1898, when he posted a 3.98 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 75 batters.
