Born on October 3, 1927 in Sanford, North Carolina, Bill Harrington (William Womble Harrington) played for the Philadelphia Athletics and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 3 year career. Harrington broke into the bigs on April 16, 1953 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 4.11 ERA in 76.2 innings pitched in 1955, his rookie year.
