Born on May 6, 1940 in Hackensack, New Jersey, Bill Hands (William Alfred Hands) played for the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers over the course of his 11 year career. Hands broke into the bigs on June 3, 1965 with the San Francisco Giants, and put up a 4.58 ERA in 159 innings pitched in 1966, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Hands's best season was 1969, when he posted a 2.49 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 181 batters.
