Bill Gray (William Robertson Gray, Jr.) was born on December 27, 1922 in Portland, Oregon. After going to high school at Benson Tech (Portland, OR), Gray attended Oregon State University and the University of Southern California. Gray made his professional debut in the NFL in 1947 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the Washington Redskins for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1948 was Bill Gray's best year, as he recovered 3 opponents fumbles.
