Bill Gompers (William George Gompers) was born on March 20, 1928 in Wheeling, West Virginia. After going to high school at Central Catholic (Wheeling, WV), Gompers attended the University of Notre Dame. Gompers made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1948 with the Buffalo Bills. He played for the Buffalo Bills for his entire 1 year career.
