Born on January 28, 1891 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bill Doak (William Leopold Doak) played for the Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals and Brooklyn Robins over the course of his 16 year career. Doak broke into the bigs on September 1, 1912 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 3.10 ERA in 93 innings pitched in 1913, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Doak's best season was 1914, when he posted a 1.72 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 118 batters.
