Born on June 23, 1913 in Ashmore, Illinois, Bill Cox (William Donald Cox) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 5 year career. Cox broke into the bigs on June 6, 1936 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 6.99 ERA in 74.2 innings pitched in 1938, his rookie year.
