Born on March 22, 1881 in Waterloo, New York, Bill Chappelle (William Hogan Chappelle) played for the Boston Doves, Cincinnati Reds and Brooklyn Tip-Tops over the course of his 3 year career. Chappelle broke into the bigs on August 20, 1908 with the Boston Doves, and put up a 1.79 ERA in 70.1 innings pitched in 1908, his rookie year.
