Bill Champion

Born on September 18, 1947 in Shelby, North Carolina, Bill Champion (Buford Billy Champion) played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 8 year career. Champion broke into the bigs on June 4, 1969 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 5.01 ERA in 116.2 innings pitched in 1969, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Bill Champion's best season was 1974, when he posted a 3.62 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 60 batters.
