[edit] Biography

Born on January 27, 1880 in San Saba, Texas, Bill Burns (William Thomas Burns) played for the Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 5 year career. Burns broke into the bigs on April 18, 1908 with the Washington Senators, and put up a 1.69 ERA in 165 innings pitched in 1908, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Bill Burns's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1909, when he posted a 1.92 ERA and struck out 63 batters. However, others believe that it was 1908, when he posted a 1.69 ERA and struck out 55 batters.
