Bill Bruton (William Haron Bruton) was born on November 9, 1925 in Panola, Alabama. He made his Major League debut on April 13, 1953 for the Milwaukee Braves. In 1953, his rookie year, he hit .250 with 1 home run and 41 RBI. Bruton played for the Milwaukee Braves and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 12 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Bill Bruton's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1960, when he hit for a .286 average and knocked in 54 runs. However, others believe that it was 1955, when he stole 25 bases and hit for a .275 average.
