Born on December 8, 1907 in Clayton, Missouri, Bill Beckmann (William Aloysius Beckmann) played for the Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 4 year career. Beckmann broke into the bigs on May 2, 1939 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 5.39 ERA in 155.1 innings pitched in 1939, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Beckmann's best season was 1940, when he posted a 4.17 ERA.
